Welcome to the web site of Wayne Rossi, Metal Artisan, owner of D.S. Iron Works.  His studio is located  in Dripping Springs, a community 15 miles west of Austin, Texas in the Texas Hill Country.    We hope you enjoy this site as you look through the many pages of artwork featuring original, whimsical animal sculptures as well as a variety of uniquely regional - mountain, Native American, and cowboy - home and garden furnishings such as lamps, bookends, business card holders, fireplace screens, furniture and accessories.

A collector will immediately recognize Wayne's work by each sculpture's thick steel, heavy weight and his distinctive signature on each piece.  Wayne still hand-cuts each piece with an acetylene torch and Victor welder.  A sign of a true artisan is manifested in the numerous hand-cuts made into the steel, as he paints with the torch - his paintbrush to the canvas of metal.  No computer images...just freehand style the way art should be created!    Sculptures are hand-cut from hand-picked I-beams with patina motifs throughout the steel, portraying specific tones to complement each piece and resulting in no two pieces alike. 

 Wayne was invited to display his work at the Texas State Society's Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball and Marketplace in Washington, DC.   His work is also featured at the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum and Texas State Capitol Gift Shops.   Many of his pieces have been used in various gallery and publication advertisings in North America and sent to collectors as far away as England and Africa.  

I'm now in  the Texas Original Art Program.   This program gives Texas' artists an outlet for marketing their products, allowing them to support a career in their chosen discipline.  Artists included in the Texas Original program have been through a review process overseen by the Texas Commission on the Arts.  Only artisans and crafts people who meet the highest business, quality and artistic standards are granted the title of Texas Original. When you see the TxO brand, you know you are looking at a high-quality, authentic, original work by a Texas artist.
